Chiangmai Golf Classic
Hend wins chiangmai open 2013
Thailand CHIANGMAI Scott Hend won the inaugural Chiangmai Golf Classic with a final-round 64 to beat South African Bryce Easton by three strokes at the Alpine Golf Resort on Sunday.
The 39-year-old AUSI started the round six shots off the lead but fired eight birdies and an eagle on the fourth hole against two bogeys for a 20 under total of 268 to capture his third Asian Tour victory, after the 2008 Indonesian President Invitational and 2012 Singapore Classic.
Hend says: "I didn't think I'd have the chance of winning. I just hoped that I would have a top-five finish, but ... everything just came together for me today."
Former major winners Ernie Els of South Africa and Y.E. Yang of South Korea faltered in the final round, shooting 70 and 73, respectively. Els finished in a tie for 14th on 12-under 276 with Yang a shot behind in joint 20th place.
