CIMB Classic 2017 - Day 4 Leaderboard
Pat Perez scored a 3-under 69 on Sunday to clinch the CIMB Classic 2017 title with an overall score of 24-under 264 in a solid display of golf having carded scores in the 60s on all four days, giving the American a clean win over compatriot Bradley Keegan who took second place, 4-strokes behind Perez.
Keegan who was tied at fourth position and 6 strokes behind the leader going into the final round, carded a commendable bogey-free 5-under to propel himself to second place.
PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, Xander Schauffele posted an even-par 72, his only score in the 70s this week, to drop from second to third position, tied with Korea’s Sung Kang.
Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama who was on fire yesterday having posted a 63, the lowest score for the tournament, posted a 1-under 71, to tie for fifth place with Australian Cameron Smith. The young Australian who led the tournament after the first round, was firing on all cylinders today, posting an 8-under 64, shooting up the leaderboard from a tied fifteenth position to a tied fifth position.
Defending champ Justin Thomas finished the day with a 5-under 67, for a total score of 11-under 277 for the tournament to settle for a tied seventeenth position.
Malaysia’s Gavin Green lot momentum on Sunday, posting a 3-over 75 to finish the tournament at even par 288, settling for a tied sixty-first position.
